Kingston, NY April 17, 2002: A secretive guest checks in to an upstate Bed and Breakfast with a business proposition for the owner and her children. Who is the criminal? Who's being played for a fool? The answers slide like bolts in a safe in MASTER CRIMINALS, a larcenous little play by Jonathan Van Gieson.
The next TheaterSounds reading is a first for the series; a world premiere reading (in the Hudson Valley) of a play that takes place in the Hudson Valley. MASTER CRIMINALS is a new play from Jonathan Van Gieson, author of Wilk & Gayle: a nasty little play, which premiered at TheaterSounds in July 2001 and will be produced in NYC later this year.
As always, the performers are professional actors whose resumes boast Tony Award Winning Broadway Productions (The Grapes of Wrath), as well as Off-Broadway, Film (Regarding Henry, 13 Conversations About One Thing, etc.) Television (Law & Order, Loving, The Education of Max Bickford, etc.), Regional Theaters across the country, The Steppenwolf Theater Company in Chicago, local productions at PAW (Love Letters, Collected Stories) and The Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany (William Kennedys Grand View), and in the upcoming 6th Annual New York International Fringe Festival.
The reading will be followed by a discussion session in which the playwright, director, and actors will be on-hand to take part in a dialogue with the audience.
TheaterSounds will present Master Criminals by Jonathan Van Gieson at 3pm on Sunday, May 5th. Admission is free. The Community Center at UUCC is located at 320 Sawkill Road in Kingston, 1 mile North of Washington Ave, 1.5 miles South of Route 209.
