TheaterSounds Announces Fall Readings
October: The Sisters Rosensweig
November: Address Unknown

Kingston, NY – September 20, 2002: If you missed it on Broadway, come see it Off-Broadway – 3 miles off of Broadway, Kingston. The Sisters Rosensweig, “a captivating look at three uncommon women and their quest for love, self-definition, and fulfillment” (The New York Times), will be the next reading in the TheaterSounds Hudson Valley Playreading Series.

In the play, by the Pulitzer Award-Winning Author of The Heidi Chronicles, three Jewish middle-aged sisters from Brooklyn come together in London to celebrate the birthday of the eldest, Sara, a brilliant British banker. Gorgeous, the middle daughter, is a talk-show personality and suburban housewife. And Pfeni, journalist and travel writer, still hasn’t written her serious book on the women of Tajikistan. When an unexpected guest shows up at Sara’s party, events are set in motion that will alter the lives of all three Sisters Rosensweig.

In November, TheaterSounds will present Address Unknown by Katherine Kressman Taylor. A series of fictional letters between a Jewish art dealer living in San Francisco and his former business partner who has returned to Germany, Address Unknown became an immediate social phenomenon and literary sensation when it first appeared in Story magazine in 1938, Published in book form a year later, it was banned in Nazi Germany, and called “the most effective indictment of Nazism to appear in fiction” by The New York Times Book Review.

“We’re thrilled to present these two very different works in our fall season,” says Artistic Director Nicola Sheara, “I think we’ve got a little something for everyone in the Hudson Valley.”

The Sisters Rosensweig by Wendy Wasserstein, will be read on Saturday October 19 at 8:00pm, at UUCC, 320 Sawkill Road, Kingston, NY. The reading features Elaine Bromka, Kathy Danzer, and Nicola Sheara as the Sisters Rosensweig, as well as James Klosty, Christina Nicosia, and David Rosenbaum. Admission is free.

Address Unknown by Katherine Kressman Taylor, will be read on Sunday, November 17 @ 3:00pm, at UUCC, 320 Sawkill Road, Kingston, NY. The reading features Wallace Norman, Stephen Bradbury, and Ken Thompson. Admission is free.
